Tiff Update
Thank you to all who are continuing to pray. Nothing really new to report. We are still in the hospital in Dubai. Teresa and I cleaned the apartment and the Jeep for her to come home today but a minor infection has apparently postponed that. She had to buy a wheel chair yesterday and that wasn't too exciting. However, for the present it is a necessary purchase. She's an amazing little lady! She now throws herself in her chair and doing most things for herself. I'm really proud of her tenacity. She is also pressing the Doctors and insurance company to get her into a rehab facility that doesn't focus on learning to live in a wheel chair. She wants to go to a place that specializes in getting athletes back in the game!
I'm learning a lot in all this. (More about that in future blogs.) This Friday Teresa and I will have "lived in Dubai" for a month. Some may wonder if we are afraid here. Actually, I feel safer here than in many American cities. The Islamic laws that govern Dubai sets an atmosphere that make "most" experiences pleasant ones. Today we ran to the Mall of the Emirates, that's the one with the ski slopes you may have heard about. We had to pick up some shoes for Tiff and some items at Carrefore, Dubai's version of Wal-Mart. As we were having lunch in the food court I noticed a sign that said, "please dress respectfully by covering your shoulders and knees". Obviously, this was directed at ladies! It seems that religious laws regarding dress are always directed at women and miss the men, just like the U.S.! Don't worry, there are a lot of Westerners who can't read and they make it look more like the USA.
I'll close for now. Please keep praying for infections to be gone, the right rehab center and the right timing on her departure from the UAE.
Blessings!

Hi Pastor LA, Rachael Hall here. I listened this a.m. to Jack Taylor speak on "Shaking Things Which Can Be Shaken" at Bethel Church on 12/08/08. He said the 1st thing we need to know is that God is the one allowing things to be shaken. 2nd, the issue at hand is being able to listen and hear God speak b/c during the shaking, there are LOTS of voices suggesting why it's happening and what you should do about it. Third, the purpose of shaking is to get our focus OFF what's falling apart and BACK on what CANNOT be shaken (the kingdom). And 4th, our reaction should be to praise God and focus on what cannot be shaken. So I hope y'all are doing all of that! :) Remember, God allowed all this to happen for your best and His glory. So glorify Him no matter what. And at least one person is patently envious that you've been in Dubai for a month. RLH
Hi LA and Teresa! I'm just checking to be sure you received the cell phone number of Dr. Nakra, the elementary school counselor from India who is currently living and working in Dubai. If you will call her, she is willing to discuss with you her thoughts about medical treatment or rehab in India. She is very knowledgeable and very nice. You will enjoy speaking with her. I emailed the information to New Covenant Church. If you didn't receive it, you can contact me at christyclan@yahoo.com and I will email it directly to you.
I'm keeping Tiffany and both of you in my prayers! Keith Moore at www.moorelifenow.org has a series on "God's Will to Heal" that Tiffany might enjoy listening to. It's very inspiring! RMC
